G. Irene "Renie" Snyder
G. Irene "Renie" Snyder, 84, of Honey Brook, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Friday, August 2, 2024. She was the beloved wife of J. Douglas Snyder with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Born in Pottstown, she was raised by her grandparents, Raymond and Bertha of West Main Street, South Pottstown, PA.
Renie was a 1957 graduate of the Owen J. Roberts High School. During high school, she played field hockey for two years, was the Captain of the basketball team in 1956 and 1957, and was a cheerleader for all four years of high school. After graduation, she married J. Douglas Snyder on July 13, 1957. She became a farmers' wife and actively participated in running the family farm.
She joined the US Postal Service in 1970 at the Glenmoore office as a mail carrier and retired in 2010. During her tenure with the Postal Service, she was awarded the Million Mile Safety Award. Over her 40 years she made many friends, some were co-workers and others were customers.
After delivering mail, Renie needed to fill her afternoons and evenings. For years, you could find her driving a school bus for a local bus company or working at a local gas station. Wherever Renie went she made more friends.
Renie was a member of Nantmeal United Methodist Church after her marriage where she served as the church organist for 15 years.
She is survived, in addition to her husband, by two children; Cynthia I. Snyder and Jacob Douglas Snyder, Jr. both of Honey Brook.
Not only was Renie a hard worker, but she was a wonderful friend and confidante. She will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Nantmeal United Methodist Church, 359 Nantmeal Road, Glenmoore, PA 19343 followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing at the church from 9:30 AM to the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Nantmeal United Methodist Church at the above address.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg, PA. Online condolences can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com

Our Condolences
So many memories of Renie. Gene remembers her from working in the Glenmoore PO with his mom. I remember Renie from being our source of fresh eggs after meeting her as our mail carrier soon after we moved to Nantmeal Village in 1963. She soon became a friend to each member of my family. I remember her daughter, Cindy riding on the school bus with us, too. I know that Renie is finally at peace now after so much suffering.
