Everett C. Cowan III, 68, of Chapel Hill, N.C., formerly of Coatesville, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 43 years to Kristine (Faulkenholm) Cowan. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Everett and Ella Frances (Coates) Cowan.
He went to the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where he played collegiate football, was a commissioned officer in the United States Navy, and worked for Proctor and Gamble for over 30 years. During retirement, he volunteered with local literacy programs, assisted veterans with job preparedness, and continued to be a proud sponsor of the UNC football team.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Sara (Cowan) O’Rourke and her husband Devin of Saunderstown, R.I., and LCDR Trevor Cowan (USCG) and his wife Dr. Kathleen Cullion of Boston, Mass. He leaves one brother, John C. Cowan and his wife Yvonne of Marietta, Ga., a sister-in-law, Susan Cowan and nephew, Jonathan Cowan of Parkesburg, Pa. He was a devoted grandfather to Thomas and Braydon O’Rourke.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Beale Manor, 200 S. Church St. (Route 10) Parkesburg, PA 19365.
