Dorothy R. Dickinson, 79, of Coatesville, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Brandywine Hospital. She was the wife of the late George Dickinson who died in 2011. Born in Christiana, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Anna Halligar Thompson. 

 
Dorothy was an area resident all her life and a 1951 graduate of the Scott High School. She was employed at the former Coatesville Hospital and the Brandywine Hospital in housekeeping. 
 
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who made blankets for all of her grandchildren.  Dorothy loved to do crossword puzzles and enjoyed planting flowers.  
 
She is survived by eight children; Victor Wood (Arlene) of Leola, Joni Andrews (Alvester) of Dowingtown, Janie Gibbs (Marvin) of Coatesville, Barry Thompson (Annette) of Pomeroy, Jon Thompson (Wanda) of Coatesville, Laurie Washington (William) of Pomeroy, Kenneth Thompson (Annette) of Parkesburg, Deborah Miller (Ralph) of Coatesville, step daughter Sabrina White of Pottstown, 34 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and two sisters; Anna Brown of Pomeroy and Freda Dickinson of Coatesville.
 
She was preceded in death by three children Gary, Dana and Gail Thompson, four brothers and three sisters.
 
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11am from the Bell Chapel True Holiness Church, 132 Modena Rd. Coatesville followed by interment at Mt. Zion AME Cemetery, Atglen. Viewing from 9 to 11am.
