David Paul Thompson Jr., 57, of Gap, PA, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 2, 2021, in Philadelphia.  Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late David P. "Shorty" Thompson Sr. and Greta M. Peace Wiggins.

David was an area resident all his life and graduated from Octorara High School.  He previously worked as a truck driver for Danby Lumber Company in Kennett Square.

David enjoyed fishing, was a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, and was a Civil War buff. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his daughters, Nikki and Jessie. He always had a sense of humor and used that in his current vocation as an Amish Uber driver.  His motto was "I'll make you smile with every mile, you save when you ride with Dave".

David is survived by his daughters, Nicole Thompson and Jessica Thompson, siblings, Beth (Todd) Martin of Frenchville, PA, Donald Thompson of Birdsboro, PA, Joyce (James) Reavey of Downingtown, PA, Stanley “Tom” (Elizabeth) Wiggins of Florida, and mother of his daughters and lifelong best friend, Lorri Park.

David’s Celebration of Life Service will take place at the Christiana American Legion, 219 Newport Ave, Christiana, PA 17509 on Saturday, January 29, 2022, from 1 PM to 5 PM.  If you'd like to attend, please RSVP to Nikki, Jessie, or Lorri (please note that the funeral home does not give out the family's phone numbers).

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Wilde Funeral Home, in Parkesburg, or to his daughters, Nicole and Jessica, to help defray funeral and medical expenses.

Service Location:
Christiana American Legion, 219 Newport Ave, Christiana, PA 17509

Dear Lorri, Nicole, Jessica, Beth and Donnie,

David was taken from you way too soon and I am so sad you have to go through this loss. The motto you posted for the Amish Uber business is classic David.  Thank you for sharing that - it made me smile.

Letting you go was the hardest decision our girls had to make, you held on till your family got there. I know you waited for your cue that the girls were surrounded by loved ones and it was ok for you to pass. We were with you till your last breath, you knew it was time and you fought so hard to hang on my friend.  I know you heard us talking to you, crying, laughing and telling stories. Thank you for everything over the last 39 years. This isn't goodbye , it's a see you later, or as you would say " see you on the flip". Love you my friend.

Dave, time has flown, had I known I would have reached out while you were alive. Knowing neither the time nor the day we will depart this world for sure we will see each other soon enough. Rest for another go around. Peace be with you friend and my heartfelt condolences to family and close friends.
