Anna Marie Pongonis, 79, of East Fallowfield, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at the home of her son in Paradise. She was the beloved wife of Victor Lawrence Pongonis with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Bertha Shoemaker Ellis.
Anna was an area resident most of her life. She was employed by the Coatesville VAMC as a cook. She was a devoted homemaker and an avid Phillies fan.
She is survived, in addition to her husband, by four sons; Victor E. Pongonis and wife, Mamie of Springdale, Ark., Mark S Pongonis and wife Jenni of Fishers, Indiana, Daniel N Pongonis and wife Vera of Paradise and Andrew J Pongonis and wife, Julie of Manheim, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one brother and one sister. She was preceded in death by 10 siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg followed by interment at the Parkesburg Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing from 10 to 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
