Joan A. Hanna
It is with profound sadness that we announce that Joan Ann Hanna, 82, of Ephrata entered into eternal rest on Monday June 20, 2022. Joan was our dear loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend; her absence is greatly felt by all whose lives she touched. She left us peacefully at her home, surrounded by the family she so greatly adored. Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Albert James Hanna Jr.
Joan was born in Coatesville, PA on June 6, 1940, the daughter of the late Reuban T. McCulley and Anna M. McCulley, and raised in Coatesville where she resided most of her life.
Joan is survived by four children: James Hanna, husband of Judy, Gordon, Colleen J. Rettew wife of Andrew, Coatesville, Linda I. Linderman (who she has resided with the last 6 years) wife of John, Ephrata and Albert L. Hanna of Gordon. 12 grandchildren: Andrew Vandegriff Jr., JoAnna Vandegriff, James Hanna, John Linderman, Amanda (Linderman) Bathurst, Charlie Hanna, Kyle Hanna, Andrea (Hanna) Ross, Rachel Hanna, Alison Hanna, Albert Hanna and Leah Rettew, two Sisters, Dawn Ford of West Chester, Fay Kimes of Phoenixville, as well as 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Lewis McCulley and sister Betty Eschelman.
Joan lived a full life as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, mentor, and friend. She spent her days being a housewife, mother and grandmother which was her ultimate pride and joy. Joan dearly loved her family and friends. She had the most loving, caring, gentle soul that will now shine through her loved ones. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, being outdoors and spending time at the family cabin in Potter County. She was a member of Pomeroy Baptist Church in Pomeroy, PA where her family proudly filled multiple pews every Sunday. Joan's favorite times were going to church as a family on Sunday mornings, then going to her house and cooking breakfast for the entire family.
We were blessed to have had 82 amazing years learning valuable lessons from an outstanding woman. She will always be remembered as a kind, loving, christian woman with the most genuine heart. Although she will be desperately missed, we find peace and comfort in knowing that she is home with the Lord.
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Private services will be held on Friday June 24, 2022 at Wilde Funeral Home in Parkesburg, PA and graveside service following at the Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery, 2237 Strasburg Road, East Fallowfield, PA 19320.
