Joseph V. Mammarella, 79, of Coatesville, passed on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the Paoli Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Donna Porreca Mammarella with whom he shared  59 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Vincent Mammarella and Edith Catena Mammarella. 

Joe was an area resident all his life and a 1961 graduate of the former Scott High School in Coatesville. He proudly served in the US Navy Seabees in Vietnam and was awarded the Expert Rifleman Award, two Bronze Stars, the Fleet Marine Force Combat Operations Insignia along with the Navy Unit Commendation Medal.

He was employed most of his life as a master electrician with Mammarella Electric and the Lukens Steel Company. He also was employed for many years as maintenance supervisor with the Coatesville School District. 

Joe was a member of the following organizations; the Brandywine Goddard Masonic Lodge, the West End Fire Company of Coatesville, West Caln Sportsmen Club, the Parkesburg VFW Post #4480, the Christiana American Legion and St. Anthony's in Downingtown. 

He was also an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by his wife and many friends. He was preceded in death by one sister Elaine Mammarella.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA with a viewing from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. Masonic Service beginning at 10:45 AM. Interment will follow at the Hepzibah Baptist Cemetery in East Fallowfield, PA. 

In order to protect those at risk, please wear a face mask and practice social distancing while at the funeral home.

I got to know Joe when we both worked for the CASD. I just saw him at the hospital when we were both getting our pre-surgical lab work and we caught up. My prayers go out to you, I'll be one of many who will miss him. CorieSue Freemanb

Bob and I are so sorry to hear that Joe passed away, someone like him makes it hard to believe. We have not seen him or you in a while but always enjoyed seeing you both when we crossed paths. I was so sad to hear of Joe's passing. Even though I haven't seen you for quite some time, I have very fond memories of spending time with you and how you were great friends to my parents. Joe was a very nice man and I'm sure he will be missed by all those who knew him. Please accept my condolences.
