93 Years
Kennett Square, Pennsylvania

Louise C. Conner, 93, of Kennett Square, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the Pocopson Home where she had resided the past several years. She was the widow of the late Harry G. Conner who died in 2013. They shared 65 years of marriage together. Born in Guardian, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Darius and Ruth Phillips Cogar.

She moved to Baltimore from West Virginia in 1944 to weld airplanes for World War II. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the University of Maryland in 1946. She worked as a nurse at John Hopkins, alongside our father’s identical twin brother, Dr. E.H.Conner, an anesthesiologist. They became friends, and when his brother returned from the war, he introduced them on a blind date. They married in 1948 after many romantic trips to Longwood Gardens. Although they moved many times during their life together, at each venue Louise continued to pursue her education, and to work in Nursing. She attended Vanderbilt in Nashville, and received a bachelor in Science degree from West Chester University in 1986. In 1992 she became an accredited Psychoanalyst (Widener University, Institute of  Psychoanalytic Psychotherapies, Philadelphia), later working in Public Health.

In the last 20 years of her life, she pursued many artistic projects, from weaving and dying her own wools organically, to painting wooden decoys and creating her own clay jewelry from scratch, and selling it locally at Willowdale. All the while, she continued to encourage, admire and celebrate her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Susan (David) Dell of Glenville, PA, Lois Conner of New York, NY, Andrew (Margaret) of Unionville, PA and Linda (C. Douglas) Woodacre of North Framingham, MA; seven grandchildren: Allan (Debbie) Arnold of Ohatchee, AL, Belinda (Ray) Bernadzikowski of York, PA, Adam (Vanessa) Conner of Chester, MT, Amanda Conner of Chadds Ford, PA, Wescott & Emily Woodacre of Natick, MA, Winslow & Megan Woodacre of Franklin, MA and Kelley & Matt Gusto of Framingham, MA; and nine great-grandchildren: Zachary Arnold; Clara, Grace, Lance and Madeline Bernadzikowski;  Seth, Colby and Baer Conner; and Rylee Woodacre.

A Celebration of Life visitation will be held at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, PA on Saturday, August 18th from 12:00 Noon to 1:30 PM. Afterwards, family and friends are also invited back to Northbrook Marketplace, 1805 Unionville Wawaset Rd, West Chester, PA https://northbrookmarketplace.com/ for light refreshments and fellowship at 2:30 PM.
