Arnold L. Alexander, 77, of Cochranville, passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, August 1st, 2018 surrounded by family.  He shared 58 years of marriage to Maryalice Hall Alexander, who passed away in June.

Born in West Grove, he was the son of Maurice W. Alexander, Sr. and Reba F. Gill Alexander of Cochranville.  He was a 1959 graduate of Octorara High School and was a member of Parkesburg Episcopal Church of the Ascension.  Arnold was a baseball aficionado from a young age, ultimately playing catcher and serving as captain for OHS.  He also coached, umpired for many years, and often went to Boyertown Bears and Phillies games with family.

A man of few words with a big appetite, he was a hard worker as evident from his 52 years at Pepperidge Farm.  He enjoyed being a member of the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Society, reading, golfing, listening to classical music, visiting family in Montana, and teaching his cherished baseball to his sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He was a beloved husband, known as Arnie, Pop, and Pop-Pop and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by three children: daughter JoAnne McCarthy and husband Joe, of Gap, son Brinton Alexander and wife Cheryl of Hamilton, MT, and son Bradley Alexander of Cochranville, seven grandchildren: Matthew, Anita, Lauren, John, Molly, Brianna, and Brooke, and two great-grandchildren: Caden and Mariana.

He was preceded in death by his wife Maryalice, a daughter, Mary A. Stoltzfus of Cochranville, a son Arnold L. Alexander, Jr. of Oxford, a granddaughter, Brittany A. Alexander of Hamilton, MT, a sister, S. Hazel Alexander Roche of Marathon, FL, and a brother, Maurice W. Alexander Jr. of Cochranville.

A Celebration of Life Service drop in will be held for both parents on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Parkesburg VFW Post #4480, 406 W. 4th Ave., Parkesburg, PA. Light food and refreshments will be served.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arnold's name to Relay For Life of Lancaster.

I went to school with Anita Mr. And Mrs. Alexander wore good people. May they rest in paradise.

Both were good friends and classmates at Octorara High School Class of 1959. Arnie and I were teammates on Octorara’s baseball team, as well as Christiana’s Big Team. Arnie was an exceptionally good catcher with an outstanding throwing arm. He was VP of our graduating class and was a very sincere person, one on whom you could count on.

Mary Alice was “in the know” where our classmates were concerned and was indispensable in providing information for our class reunions.

She and Arnie will be sorely missed.

Rest in Peace Mr. Alexander!  I will miss my yearly visits with you and your wife, but will always appreciate the time you spent coaching us and teaching us how to play baseball.  Your youngest son, Arine, was my best friend from 1st to 12th grade.  Arnie and I spent countless days together, and I will never forget the many adventures we had.  Unitl we meet again, Mark
