John L. Colyer Jr., 86, of Coatesville, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Hospice and Community Care of Mt. Joy. He was the widower of the late Betty Best Colyer. Born in Embreeville, PA, he was the son of the late, John L. and Irma Wright Colyer .
He was a 1949 graduate of Scott High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He attended Pequea Presbyterian Church and also attended First Presbyterian Church of West Chester. He retired from Quebecor printing.
He is survived by his children, Kimberly A (John) Beiswenger of Lancaster, Jody L. (David) Taualofai of Lancaster, Shawn L. (Julie) Colyer of Exmore, VA, grandchildren Eva, Daniel, Taimane, Eirene, and Joshua and great grandchildren Cameron, Kainoa, Manaia and Aiden, siblings Joy Cumens, Parkesburg, Glenn Colyer of Coatesville, Donna Mattson of Coatesville, and Linda Esbenshade of Paradise. He was preceded in death by siblings, Evelyn Parker and Virgil Colyer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 11:00am from the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg. Internment to follow at Upper Octorara Cemetery. So sorry to hear of John’s passing
I had the pleasure of working with John at Quebecor for several years. He was always a gentleman and a resource for all the younger guys. He was easy to work with and never caused any concerns for those he worked for. Again, my condolences to his family and friends i’m sure he’ll be missed by all.
