Janos "John" Erdelyi, 78, of Coatesville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 surrounded by his beloved family.  He was the widower of the late Mary Edith Erdelyi, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage.    

Born in Gyor, Hungary, John immigrated to the United States at the age of 20.  He was the son of the late Mihaly and Maria Erdelyi.

He attended Wagontown Union Chapel.  

John liked to fish, watch wrestling, Westerns, he enjoyed cooking, and playing the lottery.  He came to the US from Hungry when the Eagles won the 1960 NFL Championship Game, and was able to watch them win the Super Bowl before he passed.   

He was employed at Autocar, and LG Ind. as a welder/fabricator.  Later, he worked for Brandywine and VA Hospitals.  

John is survived by four children: Marybeth Basht of Coatesville, Dawn M. Bedsaul of Brandamore, Michael J. Erdelyi of Coatesville and Mark A. Erdelyi of Coatesville; two grandchildren; and one brother, Miklos Erdelyi of Gyor, Hungary.  

The funeral will be held on Friday, February 16 at 6 PM at Wagontown Union Chapel, 469 W Kings Hwy, Coatesville, PA 19320.  A visitation will be held at the Chapel from 5 to 6 PM.

So very sorry to hear of John's passing.  John worked with us at the VA Hospital and was an ambitious and faithful employee.  He often spoke to us about his wife who he expressed sincere devotion and love.  May he rest in peace and may you, his family, be comforted in knowing what a good and kind man he was!  Prayers of peace and comfort are extended.  So happy to read that  he witnessed the EAGLES championship....how very nice!
