Janice “Susie” Bailey, 78, of Parkesburg passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Jennersville Regional Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late William Bailey with whom she shared 36 years of marriage.

Born January 28, 1940, in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Leroy “Pete” Klingler and Edna (Fisher) Thomas. She was a member of the first graduating class of Octorara High School in 1957.

Susie was a longtime member of Parkesburg United Methodist Church holding various positions within the church including being the Lay Leader. She was also a life member at both the Keystone Valley Fire Department and Parkesburg VFW in addition to serving at the Octorara Area Food Cupboard. She was employed at the local courthouse as a clerk for much of her life.

She is survived by two children; William A. Bailey II and wife Linda of Lancaster, Lisa Smith and husband Christopher of Parkesburg, and four grandchildren which include; Ford Smith, Shelby Smith, Madison Bailey, and William Bailey III. 

The Family will hold visitation hours at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg on Thursday, February 15, 2018, from 6 to 8 PM.

The Funeral Service will then take place at Parkesburg United Methodist Church, 411 Main St, Parkesburg, on Friday, February 16, 2018, with a visitation from 9:30 until 11 AM. 

Interment will directly follow the Funeral Service and will take place Penningtonville Presbyterian Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Parkesburg United Methodist Church or the Keystone Valley Fire Department.

Dear Lisa & Billy,

Was so sad to hear about your Mom, have so many memories of her from Boy Scouts with Bub, Your Mom & Dad with my Mom & Dad at the Parkesburg Roller Rink. Talking with her at least once a week. She is loved by so many and has touched many lives. Hugs and prayer for all of you. Love Libby

Extending Heartfelt Sympathy to The Bailey Family at this most difficult time.  Susie and I go way back in the Parkesburg good old days at the skating rink.  She was an awesome skater, as Bill was too (late 1950's and early 1960's)  Everyone just loved to watch them skate.  Later in 1985, I returned to work in Parkesburg where I grew up, and then again, Susie and I would always stop and chat.  I will never forget Susie.  Parkesburg has lost a Sweet,Kind and Friendly person.  She loved her Family and I know she Loved her Church.  Wishing The Bailey Family peaceful reflections of warm memories, and keeping All in our Thoughts and Prayers.

Dear Lisa

So sorry to see this !! I thought she was doing well. It was a joy to help her out at Hickory House and nice to get to know her better. This is so hard to lose a Mom but knowing she knew the Lord and now is in his hands what a blessing and comfort. Keeping you in my prayers.

Billy and Family,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom.  What an amazing woman she was.  I remember chatting with her a lot after your accident.  She knew that prayer was an amazing thing and you would continue to heal, which you did.  The last time I saw your mom we joked about how you are getting paid back for all of the crazy things you did growing up.   Her face lit up when she spoke about her grandchildren.   They are her pride and joy.  She loved her family and her extended family.  Heaven has gained an amazing person.  You will always have your special angel looking out for you and your family.  May the memories of your mom, grandmother, family member and/or friend and the love of family and friends surround you and give you strength in the days ahead. -- Angela (Salada) Jumper

Sorry to hear of your loss. Your mom and dad were the best rollor skaters, when young I tina, thought they were the perfect couple, especially when they had their wedding clothes on and roller skating, many great memories at the roller rink. Susie was a good neighbor on 2nd ave. For years. She will be missed. Take Care, Sincerely Tina and Kevin Wison. Prayers Be with you.
