James E. Rice, 84, of Coatesville, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Catherine Swisher "Minnie" Rice with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Earl and Anna Wiley Rice.

Jim was an area resident all his life and a 1951 graduate of the Scott High School. Jim proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was self-employed as a local Life Insurance Agent for over 40 years. He enjoyed time with his family, especially during trips to Disney World which were treasured memories. His laugh is remembered by anyone who knew him.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by three loving children; Robert E. Rice and wife Mary, James B. Rice and Pamela M. Rice all of Coatesville, three grandchildren; John, Adrian and Rachel, five great grandchildren; Samuel, Hannah, Timothy, Isaac and Sara and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three siblings; Paul Rice, William Rice and Jean Villbrant.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 11am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA followed by interment at the Upper Octorara Cemetery. Visitation from 10 to 11am.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parkesburg Baptist Church, 103 West St, Parkesburg, PA 19365.
