Kenneth S. Clay, Sr., 96, of Coatesville, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Coatesville VAMC Hospice Unit. He was the husband of the late Ruth Estelle Hubler Clay who died in 2013. Born in Reading, PA he was the son of Melville and Anna Snyder Clay. 

Ken was an area resident most of his life. He proudly served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII as an air crew radio operator and gunner. He was employed as a manager and saleman for and Firestone and Goodyear tire companies in Coatesville, retiring from the General Tire Co. in Wayne, PA.  

Ken was a member of the Brandywine Goddard Masonic Lodge #383, the Rajah Temple of Reading, PA and the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Coatesville.

He is survived by four children; Lynn Mann of Lancaster, Kenneth S. Clay, Jr. and wife Karen of Winslow, AZ, Karen S., wife of Ronald Porter of Gumtree and Kathy Hritz of Coatesville, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. He was preceded in death by one son K. Scott Clay and two brothers; Melvin and James.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March, 8, 2016 at 11am from the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 S 17th Ave., Coatesville, PA, followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville, PA. Viewing at the Church from 10 until 11 AM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Coatesville VA Hospice Unit, 1400 Black Horse Hill Road, Coatesville, PA 19320.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg.  Online condolences can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com

Dear Clay Family,

Our condolences to the Clay family.  We mourn the loss of Ken.  He was a hero in the true sense of the word.  He was part of the greatest generation that kept America free.  He was a good man and will be missed.
