Alberto will truly be missed at Station 58. He came to us with such a positive attitude and an infectious smile. He went out of his way to get to know people and he was one of the most sincere people that I have ever met. He was a wonderful man and showed us all what bravery in the face of battle looks like. I personally feel honored to have know him. I know he will be waiting with that smile and a hug when I see him in heaven.

We do not know you, however, my daughter was in class with Veronika at Welch. My daughter told me about your story a few weeks ago. I remember seeing you all after school sometimes last year. I am so sorry for your loss. I want you to know that my daughter, Maegan, has prayed many nights to bring healing to your hearts. She worries about Veronika everyday. Please, if you read this, tell Veronika that Maegan is thinking of her and sends her hugs and love from Dover. We all send our thoughts and prayers as you pass through this difficult valley.

My husband and I met Alberto and his wife about a year ago when he joined the Station 58 family. He greeted everyone with a warm smile that immediately put you at ease. His family and ours quickly became great friends, we helped each other out with no questions ever asked. Everything from watching each other's kids from time to time or whatever was needed. We shared so many smiles, jokes, and over all good times. We ment what we said when all this started, we will hold you as family and you will be treated as such, we are here no matter what. Alberto will forever be a loved member of the Smith family as well as Sherry, Veronica, Nathon, and Kristi.

It's is very sad to hear about the passing of Alberto. I believe God needs him more than we need him which is why he was taken at such a young age. We can have comfort knowing that when it is time for us to do our job as firemen, that our new angel Alberto will use his newfound power to keep us safe.

The Altus AFB Fire Department will observe a moment of silence and ringing of the bell tomorrow in his Honor. To the family: We love you, we are here for you, and you can always count on us for anything you need.

With love and our deepest sympathy,

The Altus Air Force Base Fire Department

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away
into the next room.

I am I, and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
that we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way you always used.
Put no difference in your tone,
wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we shared together.
Let my name be ever
the household word it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort,
without a trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant,
It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you for an interval,
somewhere very near, just around a corner.

All is well.

We dedicate our lives helping our fellow man,
Living day after day doing all that we can,
Where ever we’re needed whether nighttime or day,
To save the life of another we’ll step in harms way.

Our Brother has fallen doing what he loved best,
And among the Honored, he now stands with the rest
For a mile in dress uniform everyone stands,
For our Brother has fallen, God into your hands

I had the opportunity to meet Alberto just a few weeks ago. He and his family touched my heart. Godspeed Alberto, you and your family are all in my thoughts and prayers today.

God looked around his garden and He found an empty place. He then looked down upon this earth, And saw your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never Get well on earth again. He saw that the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered "Peace be thine". It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you that day that God called you home. Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven. Where the love of our lost ones, pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they're happy. We will all miss that smile.....

I am Native American and have prayed for this brother, through friends of him. I pray for the wife and children, to let them know that their loved one is not dead. It his spirit is still here with you until Jesus comes to get us, so he stays around you in everything. Meaning when you wake up in the morning he is the silent hush, or the air that blows on your face on a warm summers day. The shining glints of snow flakes from fresh snow fall. Look everywhere and in everything. Do not weep, at a grave he is not there he is everywhere. I pray that you take time to listen to the earth so you can feel his presents. God bless all .

Love all of you. I don't know why God chose to take Berto, but I do know I will see him again. I remember taking Berto to get his hair cut in Lansing, he was such a handsome, sweet young man. He talked so seriously of his family and future at a young age. His future is one of victory. He has overcome the cancer. I am so sorry God did take him from all of us. I cannot come to be with you in this time, but my prayers and the prayers of his family down south will get you through this. Praying for all.

To the Soto family, my thoughts and prayers go out to you at this very difficult time.

Soto had a smile that could bring sunshine out on a stormy day. I remember the times I shared with him. He taught me the true meaning of courage and strength. Thinking back on conversations we shared, we always referred to each as "buddy". I could never resist his smile and kindness. I would everything in my power for him. I love you my buddy and wish I had more time with you. I know you wanted everything in place and I'm sure it will be.

Sherry, your love meant the world to him as he had expressed to me on every occasion. He wanted nothing more than for you and your children to be taken care of. He cherished and appreciated everything you did for him. The love you two shared is truly one of a kind as was he. Know that I am thinking of you all at this time and wish I was there. God bless

From all you shared with us Wanda, we found some words that we feel might give you a few minutes of peace with all you are going through. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Many prayers for Alberto's Wife and Children. God Bless You!

God Took Him To His Loving Home
God saw him getting tired, a cure was not to be.
He wrapped him in his loving arms and whispered ‘Come with me.'
He suffered much in silence, his spirit did not bend.
He faced his pain with courage, until the very end.
He tried so hard to stay with us but his fight was not in vain,
God took him to His loving home and freed him from the pain.

I was so glad to finally be getting close to and keeping in touch with our wonderful cousin. We talked so long the last time we spoke on the phone. When he messaged us about the terrible news my heart sank. He was the first person to call when Momma passed in September. We wanted terribly to come see you all sooner, but we could not get the chance, and now my heart sinks lower. Sherry, I don't know what in the world to say, except that you made Alberto's life complete, and he was obviously happier than he ever could have been, with the family you and he created. Alberto is a hero to many, and so are you Sherry! You both are angels! We love you all!

I met Alberto at church. Back then, he was a sweet little boy that kept my family and I giggling during service because he was such a wiggle worm!
One thing that always stood out about Alberto, even when he was a boy, was how compassionate he was. He genuinely cared about other people and had a heart filled with love. I was so happy for him when I heard that he had found someone to share his life with. I saw pictures of Alberto with his family and he had a huge grin on his face. He looked truly content and although he was too young to leave this world, I think it was apparent to anyone that knew their story, that Alberto and his wife shared more love for each other than most people get to experience in a lifetime.
If the stars in the sky really are openings that allow our loved ones to shine down to let us know they are happy, then the night sky surely became brighter because of Alberto.

My thoughts and love are with the entire Soto Family.

Please accept my condolences. I was the principal at New Garden when Alberto was there. I remember his kind smile and quiet, gentle nature.
We ran into each other a couple years ago. He was happy, and proud of his life and family. That made me happy, too.
Rest in peace, Alberto.

To All Family and Friends of Alberto, I wish you faith and hope...
Alberto did the job family and friends would be proud to emulate. Our family met Alberto when he was 12 and his grandfather and father were living nearby our home. When he became a father, he embraced that vocation with unbridled love. I am most proud of his example of fatherhood. My son has learned much from his friendship, even now, in his eternal life.
Alberto Soto in this life,
LIVED, LOVED, LAUGHED.... Alberto Soto is life !!!!
Remember him in love, Alberto is an example of unconditional love.

In Loving Rememberance,

Though we did not know you, we share the Brotherhood of Fire with you and the badge we wear together binds us all. The Firefighters stationed here at the Kadena Silver Flag site send thoughts, prayers and condolences to those Alberto left behind. May he rest in peace.

~Firefighter's Prayer~

When I am called to duty, God,
wherever flames may rage,
give me strength to save a life,
whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
before it is too late,
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert,
and hear the weakest shout,
quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling,
to give the best in me,
to guard my friend and neighbor,
and protect his property.
And if according to Your will
I must answer death's call,
bless with Your protecting hand,
my family one and all.

Amen.

May God bless you in our time of sorrow. It is my prayer that the continuous comfort and peace that only God can give be granted unto you. May you find comfort in knowing that his living wasn't in vain. So many lives are all the more better because of how they were touched by Alberto. No one knows why God calls the good ones home before what we think is their time, just know that Alberto has traded in his Air Force wings for the unltimate wings of all, the wings of an Angel. Continue to trust in God for He knows what's best. Alberto, the son, husband, father and friend to many will live on in our memories and hearts.

Be Blessed
