John F. Smith, 65, of Atglen, died on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Neighborhood Hospice Center of West Chester. He was the husband of Judith Pacana Smith with whom he shared 20 years of marriage. Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Lewis C. and Marie Harple Smith. A County resident all his life, John served in US Army in Vietnam.
He was employed by Pepperidge Farms in the shipping department and had worked at the Downingtown and Denver plants.
John was a life member of the West Chester VFW and he was an avid fisherman.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by five children; Annette M., wife of Joe Friel of New Holland, Richard Smith and wife Ann of Coatesville, Michael Smith and wife Katie of E. Fallowfield, Tammy, wife of John Harple of Coatesville and Tim Little and wife Pegge of Quarryville, seven grandchildren and three siblings Patricia Yoder of Downingtown, Butch Smith of Cochranville and Marie Tyson of West Chester. He was preceded in death by five brothers; Lewis, Frederick, Richard, Samuel and Harry Smith and one sister Helen M. Trout.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, followed by interment at All Souls Cemetery, Coatesville. Viewing at the funeral home from 1 to 2:00pm.

John was a wonderful man as well as a simplistic man. He enjoyed life in a quiet fashion. His love for his family was so profound. All their fond memories with him will be treasures to carry forward forever.
