Joseph Richard Smith, 76, of Sadsbury Township, Coatesville, passed away Friday, November 26, 2010 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy R. Warden Smith, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.
Born on Friday, September 14, 1934 in Westwood, he was the son of the late Earl F. Smith Sr. and Ruth A. Thomas Smith. An area resident his entire life, he was a 1953 graduate of the Scott High School.
He was retired from Robert A. Watterson Electric Contractor, where he had worked for 47 years.
He was a member of the Chester County Hunting Club and coached in the Sadsbury Midget League. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and golfing.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by three children: Dennis R. Smith, husband of Cynthia, of Apex, N.C., Debora L. Smith Crank, wife of Kenneth, of New Providence, Pa. and Steven J. Smith, husband of Lynn, of Weston, Vt.; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Predeceased by a brother, Earl F. Smith Jr. in 1995.
The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 29, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Upper Octorara Cemetery of Parkesburg. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held from 1 until 2 PM.
