William Richard Huntsinger

William Richard Huntsinger, 85, of Atglen, formerly of Coatesville, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at the Brandywine Hospital.  He was the husband of Shirley L. Huntsinger (Backenstose), with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.  Born in Rebuck, Northumberland County, PA, he was the son of the late Marlin and Hilda Smith Huntsinger.

Bill retired from the Coatesville VA Medical Center, as well as Brandywine Hospital, beginning as a nursing assistant and ending in housekeeping.  Bill had endless stories of his escapades while working in medicine.  He never failed to make someone chuckle.

Bill was a Lutheran by birth and a Methodist by marriage.  The family attended Grace United Methodist Church in Coatesville, where Bill formed life long friendships with the other parishioners.  He was currently a member of Faith Community United Methodist Church in Atglen.

Bill was a member of the International Order of Oddfellows, and spoke highly of the comradery that the lodge offered.  He loved going to meetings and regaling the family with the stories he had.

Bill was an avid hunter and never missed a season.  He loved going to the mountains with his son and hanging with the folks that lived there.  He loved his poker games and the laughs that came with the gaming. He loved gardening and watching his plants produce beautiful blooms and vegetables….especially his tomatoes!  He loved to hate the Phillies and drove his wife crazy switching the TV back and forth from the game to a show. And his favorite hobby was eating…he could eat anyone under the table when a buffet was offered.

But most of all, Bill loved his family.  Never missed a party or a holiday, that could be spent with the family. He watched his grandchildren grow and become wonderful young adults and watched as a great-granddaughter was born and joined the family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Shirley, and children, Diane Bujnovsky of Reading, PA, Donna, wife of Lynnwood Greiss of Elverson, Darren, husband of Valarie Huntsinger of Atglen, grandchildren, Eric Lubas, Maris Wilson, CJ Huntsinger, and great-granddaughter, Emma Lubas.

Due to the current restriction on public gatherings, the service will be private and at the convenience of the family.
