William M. "Spider" Spanakos

November 29, 1940 — December 28, 2017

William M. "Spider" Spanakos, 77, of Christiana, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Paoli Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Linda Bell Spanakos with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Michael W. Spanakos and Helen Daniels Semiclose.

Bill was an area resident all his life. He was employed by the Coatesville VA Medical Center as a supervisor in the machine shop.

He will be fondly remembered for his passion for drag racing, his car Monster Mash, and his racing team the “Zoo Crew”.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by one daughter Sharon M. Spanakos and fiancé Ron Haines of Gap, grandsons Jacob Haines and Verdon Taylor,and one sister Jeanette Nunn. He was preceded in death by one brother Andrew Spanakos and one sister Mary Lynch.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 5th, 2018 at 11:00 AM from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Drag Racing Association of Women at http://www.drawfasthelp.org/donate.html
