William L. Haines, Sr.

William L. Haines, 81, of Coatesville, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at  the LifeCare Hospital in West Chester. He was the husband of the late Florence Dean Haines who died in  2000. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Oscar and Alice Hoopes Haines. Bill served honorably in the US Army from 1946 to 1949. He was employed by Lukens Steel in Coatesville retiring in 1992 as a Gang Leader.

He is survived by six children; William Haines, Jr. of Lancaster, Robert L. Haines and wife Sylvia of Coatesville with whom he resided with the last ten years, Barry Haines and wife Phyllis of Parkesburg, Rodger Haines and wife Sheri of Downingtown, Deborah, wife of Kevin Garret of Ambler and Brian Haines and wife Laurie of Downingtown, 12 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Joseph, Oscar and Bobby Haines, Thelma Swift, Florence Haines, Alice Baxter and Mary Harnish.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11:00 am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg followed by interment at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens in King of Prussia. Viewing from 10 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
