William David Jackson, 82, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at his home in Coatesville, PA. Born February 8, 1943 in Williamsport, PA, he was the son of Sgt. William L. Jackson, killed in action April 11, 1944, over Germany, and Jewel L. Brown, nee Selders, and Harold C. Brown. He is survived by Ann Marie Jean Jackson, nee Wescoe, his loving wife of 56 years; his three children and their spouses, Kimberly Ann and Thomas Price Stenley of Taneytown, MD, Kelly Marie and Robert Charles Chupein, of Thorndale, PA, and Jason Andrew and Laura Ann Jackson, of Fairfield, PA; and his two beloved grandchildren, Ethan William Stenley and Isabel Rivera Jackson.
A 1961 graduate of Jersey Shore High School, Bill did a semester at Lycoming College and then joined the Navy. He served admirably from January 1962 to July 1966 as an aviation electronics technician with radar radio endorsement (VP13 VP56 ASW) at Station Memphis, TN, Pax River, MD, and Norfolk, VA, and in Argentina, Newfoundland, Spain, and Puerto Rico.
He then went to work for Burroughs Corp. in Washington, DC, where he met and married his wife, Ann Marie, before joining Inforex Inc., which took the family to Michigan, Illinois, and back to Pennsylvania. He also trained as a certified auto mechanic and was one of the many proprietors of The Pine Creek Inn in Jersey Shore, PA.
Bill enjoyed many activities, including riding his motorcycle, playing pool, fixing things, and celebrating life with his family. He loved music and was a member of his high school drum corps and the Recruit Drum & Bugle Corps during boot camp in San Diego, CA. A film enthusiast and avid reader, he enjoyed fiction and non-fiction and studying various subjects, particularly history and science. He loved telling jokes and enjoyed verbal parlays on a variety of topics with anyone who would engage with him.
In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Bill is survived by his sister, Cynthia J. Missien of Williamsport, his brother, Gerald H. Brown of Jersey Shore, cousins, nieces, and a nephew.
An advocate of education and advancing knowledge, he donated his body to science and will be cremated. The family's private celebration of life will be held on March 23, 2025, which would have been Bill and Ann Marie’s 57th wedding anniversary.
