William J. "Bill" Griffith III, 91, of West Caln Twp., passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 16, 2020. Born in Malvern, he was the son of the late William J. Griffith Jr. and Mable Kenney Griffith. He was the loving companion of the late Dorothy Kilfara for over 40 years -- They treasured their relationship both having found love a second time in life that was stronger and lasting. (Previously, he was married to Margaret for 13 years and they shared a friendship and bond of having 3 daughters together).
As a child, Bill had a German Shepherd named "Irish", which he loved. He enjoyed riding his bicycle for miles and running -- He boasted about beating the time of the school track-star but had no interest to follow him on the path to a college scholarship since he never liked the walls or confines of school. Bill left high school for adventure and at the age of 17 to join the United States Marines and served his country at the end of WWII. He returned home and lived in the West Chester area where he worked as a self-employed carpenter and roofer.
Bill was a "rolling-stone" and always had to keep moving either doing something around the house or driving -- He enjoyed taking long drives in the country with Dorothy and making stops along the way.
He is survived by his daughters, Cherie Griffith of Coatesville, and Gayle, wife of Stephen, O'Brien of West Caln, two granddaughters, Amy Griffith of Upper Chichester, and Aarika Griffith of Coatesville, and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Griffith.
Due to the current restriction on public gatherings, the service will be private and at the convenience of the family.
