Thomas W. Donohue, Jr.

November 28, 1924 — June 2, 2019

Thomas W. Donohue, Jr., 94 of Lancaster, formerly of New Holland and Parkesburg, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the Lancashire Hall Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Edith R. Donohue who died in 1998. They shared 50 years of marriage together. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Thomas W. Donohue, Sr. and Emma Anna Kast Donohue.

Tommy was an area resident all his life and a 1943 graduate of the former Scott High School in Coatesville. After High School he continued his education at the Conn Musical Instrument Repair School in Elkhart, IN graduating in 1949. Tommy was a musician all his life and will be well remembered as the owner of Donohue's Music Shop and he had his own dance band called Tommy Donohue and the Premiers.

Throughout his lifetime, he was also a member of the Lukens Band of Coatesville, the West Chester Band, the New Holland Band, the Melbourne Municipal Band of Melbourne, FL, the Philadelphia Musical Society Local #77 and the Musicians Local 484.  He was honored to have been selected as a member of the Glenn Miller Band Orchestra.  He was also a member of the Benevolent Order Of Elks of West Chester.  Recently he attended Our Lady of Lourdes Church in New Holland and he previously had attended Our Lady of Consolation Church in Parkesburg.

He is survived by four children; Patricia Lierman of East Earl, PA,  Gail Hess wife of Calvert of Atglen, PA, Thomas Donohue, III husband of Antoinette of Parkesburg, PA and Dennis Donohue and wife Haley of Parkesburg, PA, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers William and Charles Donohue, one sister Elizabeth Sumpman, one grandson Calvert Hess, III and one son-in-law John Lierman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 W 2nd Ave, Parkesburg, PA 19365, followed by burial in Our Lady of Seven Dolors Cemetery in Parkesburg.
