Stephen Kepiro, Jr.

November 22, 1923 — September 6, 2023

Stephen Kepiro, Jr., 99, of Highland Township, Chester County, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at the Hickory House Nursing Home after a fall that caused a short stay at the hospital. He was the husband of the late Helen Stern Kepiro for 52 years who died in 2002, and his second wife of 9 years, the late Pauline Good Kepiro. Born in Nyirbogat, Hungary, he was the son of the late Stephen Kepiro, Sr. and Mary Bihary Kepiro.

At an early age, Steve moved with his parents from Hungary to Nova Scotia, where they owned a farm and he and his dad worked in the coal mines. Later they settled in the Coatesville area, Chester County. Steve worked at G.O. Carlson (stainless steel mill) in Coatesville for 35 years. Upon retirement his love of trees prompted him to start his own business, the Highland Nursery, in 1983. Here he was very active and many a tree was dug and/or planted and almost certainly watered by Steve regularly. He loved life and he loved people, and they loved him! Steve lived in his own home next to the nursery until his fall in mid-August.

Throughout Steve’s life he attended several churches and he served faithfully at the Church of the Open Bible in Parkesburg for many years. In his later years, he worshipped at the Safe Harbor Baptist Church in Cochranville.

Steve’s passions in life were loving and providing for his family and spending time with them, his relationship with Jesus and the joy and peace that brought him, and sharing that with others. He took the opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to each one he met at the nursery. Steve was always generous with his family as well as donating to many missions over the years.

He is survived by three daughters: Nancy K. Taylor and husband Willard of East Fallowfield, PA, Marjorie K. Boyes and husband Kenneth of Gum Tree, PA and Diane K Windle and husband Edward of Gum Tree, PA, nine grandchildren: Robert and Roudabeh Riggs, Philip and Julie Riggs, April and Chris LaGarde, Christina Boyes, Aaron and Kristen Windle, Michael Boyes and Daria Sudov, Seth and Brenna Windle, Renee and Ryan Good, Luke and Allison Windle, 21 great grandchildren and one brother Tebor Kepiro and wife Veronica of Parkesburg. He was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Veres and two brothers: Alex Kepiro and Joe Kepiro.

Funeral services will be held at Gateway Church, 160 Cowan Road Parkesburg, PA on Saturday September 23, 2023.
