Shawn Cody Sturges (Sweet Badger)

Shawn Cody Sturges (Sweet Badger), 32, of Gap, passed away on Wednesday, July 8th, 2020.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Elwood Sturges III and Wonda Sue (Bennett) Sturges.

Shawn was in his third year as a music major.  He played nearly every instrument and wrote and performed folk and native American music with his band, Aboriginal Eye.  He was of the Lakota Sioux Nation.

Shawn was self-employed as a painter for the past 20 years.

Shawn loved being a father to his son, Wakan "Running Bear" Sturges, and looked forward to the birth of his baby girl River Moon Sturges, due in three months.  He's also survived by his paternal grandmother, Dorie Lusby, paternal grandfather, Ron Howett, and maternal grandmother, Sue Running Bear; his siblings, Cathy Gray and family, Robert Kenneth Sturges and family, Steven Andrew Sturges and family and Faith Sturges and family.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Elwood Sturges Jr.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 16 at 11 AM at Fairview Cemetery, 786 Oak St, Coatesville, PA 19320.  Please arrive at the gravesite around 10:45 AM and please wear a mask and respect social distancing.
