Sarah Irma Jones

Sarah Irma Jones of Downingtown, PA, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, at St. Martha's Manor in Downingtown. She was the wife of the late Haywood S. Jones.  Born in Lenover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Hanna Griffy Hammonds.

Sarah was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church in Atglen, PA, where she did missionary work and sang in the choir.

She is survived by stepdaughters, Veronica Jones of Florida, and Bernadette Jones of Virginia, a niece, Sydney Lynn Proctor of Coatesville, a cousin, Catherine Johnson of Coatesville, and a good friend, Mia.  She was preceded in death by her siblings, Leon "Pete" Hammonds, Herbert Hammonds, ethel Mae Brown, Frances "Fannie" Bradford, Alberta Hammonds, and Reba Taylor.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM from the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg, PA, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment to follow at Mt. Zion AME cemetery, Atglen.
