Samuel G. Schroder

Samuel G. Schroder, 74, of Parkesburg, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at the Brandywine Hospital. He was the husband of the late Carolyn Cundiff Schroder, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Henry F. Schroder and Helen Boyle Schroder.

Sam was an area resident all of his life and a 1964 graduate of the former Scott High School in Coatesville. After school he was drafted into the US Army from 1965 to 1967 and served in Vietnam. He was employed by the former Super Thrift store in Parkesburg and more recently by Walter and Jackson, Inc. in Christiana.

Sam’s greatest joy was spending time with his friends and family. He loved the outdoors, trap shooting and hunting, and treasured road trips to the mountains with his buddies.

He is survived by three children: Christopher J. Schroder of Parkesburg, Andrew H. Schroder and wife Allison of York, and Kiley L. Fisher and husband Travis of Mountville, eight grandchildren: Shayna, Lucas, Dawson, Philip, Gavin, Gabrielle, Gage and Avery, and two sisters: Vivian Gibson of Atglen and Mary Lou Keshuta of Coatesville. He was preceded in death by one sister Thelma Quinn.

Funeral services will be held at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main Street, Parkesburg, PA on Friday, February 21 at 11:00 AM followed by interment at the Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery, East Fallowfield, PA. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing from 9:30 AM to the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Bethany Christian Services of Central PA, 1681 Crown Avenue, Suite 201, Lancaster, Pennsylvania 17601 -6314 . All donations will be used to help children and families.
