Ruth C. Collis, 83, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 while under the care of Hospice and Community Care of Mount Joy. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Beatrice Williams Cherry.
Ruth was a Lancaster County resident for over fourty years. She was retired as operations supervisor at the Mellon Bank (now Citizens Bank) in Lititz.
Ruth was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church. She was also a longtime member of the Kentucky Rifle Association where she served faithfully for many years as the secretary and treasurer.
She is survived by two daughters; Nancy R. Rohrbach of Sinking Springs, Patty J. Collis of Lancaster, former husband and friend Keith T. Collis of Sinking Springs and three siblings; Wesley Cherry of Gradyville, PA, Raymond Cherry of Missoula, Montana and Margaret Aliano of Harrison, Arkansas.. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn A. Collis who died in 2001.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00am at the New Life Assembly of God Church, 1991 Old Phila. Pike, Lancaster, PA followed by interment at the Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. Viewing and visitation at the church from 10-11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
