Romayne Denise Dennison Pugh, 67, of Valley Township, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, January 15, 2022. She was the wife of Michael Eric Pugh Sr. for over 43 years. Born in Coatesville, PA. she was the daughter of the late Lewis S. and Romayne Wilson Dennison.
Denise was a 1972 graduate of Octorara High School and a 2021 graduate of Lincoln University. She retired from the Coatesville VA Medical Center with over 39 years of service. She was a lifelong member in good standing of Bethany AME Church in Parkesburg. While at Bethany, Denise served on the Steward Board, Usher Board, Finance Committee, Trustee Board, the Julia Elliott Missionary Society, she served as Lay President, Steward secretary, a Stewardess, Church clerk, our Area Treasurer (LLMS), a member of the Culinary committee and singing His praises in the Bethany Voices of Praise. She was an original member of Love Images Ministries. She was committed to public service and during retirement enjoyed her duties as a member of the Parks and Recreation Committee in Valley Township.
Denise is survived by her husband, Michael, and three children; Maya A. Pugh of Coatesville, PA, Maryam A. Pugh of Ardmore, PA and Michael E. Pugh II of Coatesville, PA, five grandchildren; Kara T. Parker, Isabella R. Pugh, Michael E. Pugh III, Mackenzie E. Pugh and Maddison C. Pugh, two sisters; Cynthia L. Pittman of Denver, CO, and Bettye A. Thomas (wife of Edward M. Thomas) of Parkesburg, PA, one step-brother; Joel Cox of Harrisburg, PA, two aunts; Dora Dennison and Margaret Watson both of Lancaster, PA as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two infant sons, Michael E. Pugh and Malcolm L. Pugh, and a brother, Charles “Danny” Wilson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022, from Bethany AME Church, 405 Green St. Parkesburg, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. A live stream of the funeral service will be accessible on the Bethany AME Facebook, and can be viewed by clicking here . Due to CDC guidelines and restrictions on COVID-19 we are only able to provide Repast refreshments for the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Julia Elliott Missionary Society at Bethany AME Church.
