Roland W. "Ron" Johnson

November 13, 1933 — December 8, 2016

Roland W. "Ron" Johnson, 83, of West Chester, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester. Born in Ridley Park, he was the son of the late George Johnson and Ruth Shwartz, adopted by the late Roland and Margaret Witsil Johnson.

Ron was an area resident most of his life. He proudly served in the US Navy, as an Airedale of the last enlisted flyers stationed at Corpus Christi, TX during the Korean War. He was employed throughout his life with several different firms as a salesman. He loved the theater, horseback riding and to volunteer at Mid Atlantic Air Museum with the P61 exhibit “The Black Widow”. He also loved classical music, coaching the Montgomery County Special Olympic Ski Team, and all his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by four children; Erik Clark and wife Kathy of Seattle, WA and Kimberly Johnson Clark of Washington, Dawn M. Jones and husband John of Parkesburg, Brian Johnson and wife Dusty of Camden, NC, one brother George Crossley of Deer Park, NY and former wife of 27 years. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Jake 25, Jared 22 and Madison 20 Clark of Washington; Colin Rusche 20 of Washington; Rachael 18, Rebecca 15, David and Daniel Jones 11 of Parkesburg, PA; Nathan 12 and Charlotte Johnson 7 of NC.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11:00am at the Keystone Church, 6 Pequea Drive, Paradise, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ron's memory to the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, 11 Museum Dr. Reading, PA 19605.
