Robin Kay McMichael, 64, of Lancaster, PA, passed away at her home on Thursday, March 23, 2023. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Samuel A. McMichael Sr. with whom she shared over 34 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, PA, she was the daughter of Robert Rothas of Coatesville, and the late Martha Conover Rothas.
Robin was a 1976 graduate of Coatesville Area High School. Robin worked various jobs in her lifetime and took pride in her work. Robin loved working with people whether as a cashier at Acme, or Charlie’s, or in her last job serving the children of her alma mater Coatesville Area High School. She loved providing lunches to students, and being a positive part of their school day. Everyone who was blessed to meet Robin walked away with her positive imprint on their hearts.
Robin’s greatest passion in life was her family. Robin loved being a wife, mother, mother-in-law, and a grandmother. Robin was a devoted wife and cherished spending time with her husband. She was an immensely proud mother that always supported her daughter’s ambitions and accomplishments, especially her nursing degree, her DAISY awards, and most importantly the birth of her grandson. Robin was thrilled to build her family with the marriage of her daughter Sarah. Robin enjoyed hearing stories and seeing pictures of the adventures of Sarah, Don, and Anthony. Robin truly loved being a grandmother to her grandson, and treasured every moment that she spent with him over the past 12 years. Anthony gave her so much life and filled her heart with joy and laughter.
Robin was a lover of animals, and they of her. Robin loved all of her pets dearly. Robin was intensely passionate about dogs and cats, a fact attested to by the Facebook groups she followed. She also found joy in feeding birds and squirrels that would come into her yard. All of the animals that lived in or visited her yard were as much a part of her life as her own animals that lived inside. Robin was an ardent follower of Saint Francis of Assisi and shared Saint Francis’ compassion for all animals.
Although home bound in later years, Robin lived her life fruitfully through her phone. The social nature Robin exhibited earlier in her life followed her online as she spent time and interacted with her sisters and friends from all over. Whether phone calls in the middle of the night, playing games with her sisters and friends, or making a new friend in a customer service representative regarding any question or issue, Robin was eager to reach out on her phone. No matter her own situation, Robin never missed a chance to hear what someone else was going through and to pray for them and their troubles.
Robin was resolute in her love for God and devout in her Catholic faith. While not able to attend Mass regularly, Robin consistently practiced her faith through televised Masses and through online groups. Robin was a model of what it means to be a compassionate, Christ-centered Christian and a shining example for all of her family and friends. Robin’s empathy, compassion, and care filled her heart and her life and everyone who knew her was blessed to receive that love.
In addition to her husband, Robin will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sarah Beth (Donald) Reisinger and grandson Anthony Brendan McMichael, of Marietta, PA; by her step-son Samuel McMichael Jr. and step-granddaughter Atley McMichael, of Lancaster, PA; by her sisters Ronda Hoy of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lisa Sizemore (Drew Proctor) of Virginia Beach, VA and Vicki Rothas; by her nieces and nephews: Alan, Randi, Michael, DJ, Adam, Andrew, Molly, Jeffrey, Jessica and Kaycee; and by her father-in-law Danie D. McMichael of VA, and brother-in-law Joseph (Connie) McMichael of VA.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Dolores V. McMichael, a brother-in-law, Danie McMichael, and members of her husband’s family: Anna A. Clauser, Theresa Englerth, Linnett Porreca, Jennie Potrok, Daniel DellaRova, Nicholas DellaRova and Samuel DellaRova.
Robin was the most genuine, selfless and compassionate woman. Her smile and presence could light up a room. She was loved dearly by all those that she encountered. She sincerely touched the lives of many and she leaves behind beautiful memories that will be forever cherished. She will be deeply missed, however her family knows she is rejoicing with Jesus and preparing the Heavenly table for our reunion one day.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Juan Mora at 10:30am on Monday April 3, 2023 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Coatesville, PA. A viewing will precede the service beginning at 9:00am at the Church.
The family will host family and friends for a celebration luncheon following the services with details to be provided.
The interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Robin’s name to the Lourdeshouse Maternity Home (Catholic Charities, Diocese of Harrisburg).
