Robert W. Young

Robert W. Young, 79, of Gap, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at the Neighborhood Hospice Center of West Chester. He was the husband of Helen Shickley Young, with whom he shared 25 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Wilson Young and Edith Wheatman Young. He served honorably in the US Air Force during World War II as an Airplane and Engine Mechanic. Robert was employed at the Pepperidge Farm in Downingtown as a Machinist, retiring in 1993 after 35 years of employment. He was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed driving the Amish during his retirement years.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by his children: Linda Lee Ahn, wife of John, of Mohrsville, PA, Sally Young of Downingtown, Susan Shupe of Conowingo, MD, Deborah Piper of Coatesville, Karen Souden, wife of Michael, of Morgantown and Barbara Piper of Parkesburg; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and one brother Phillip Young of West Chester. He was preceded in death by a son, Chester Young.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 11 AM at the Kings Way Independent Church, 55 Morris Lane, Sadsburyville, PA 19369. Visitation will be held at the Church from 10 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be held at the Bradford Cemetery in Morgantown.
