Richard J. Thiers, Jr.

Richard J. Thiers, Jr., 65, of Lancaster County, PA, passed away unexpectedly in a tragic accident on Saturday, June 18, 2022. Born in Abington, PA, he was the son of the late Richard (Dick) J. Thiers, Sr. and Nancy Curtis Thiers.

Rick was a 1975 graduate of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and was employed most of his life as a truck driver and mechanic with various local companies. He was an avid WWII reenactor and had many other hobbies including working on antique cars, gardening, and growing his collection of treasures. He also enjoyed baking for his friends and family.

He is survived by three daughters: Christine Shaffer and husband Travis, Mireille and Rebekah Thiers, three grandchildren: Benjamin, Sophie, and Taylor, two siblings; Christopher Thiers and Jeanne Hunsberger as well as many beloved family members. He was preceded in death by one sister, Adrienne Thiers.

Visitation will be held Saturday at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 W 2nd Ave., Parkesburg, PA, from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM with services to follow immediately after. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Rick’s memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at pancan.org/donate
