Richard E. Newswanger

Richard E. Newswanger, 85, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA. He was the husband of the late Grace Newswanger. Born in Parkesburg, he was the son of the late Harry Newswanger and Florence Mowery Newswanger.

Rich was a 1953 graduate of the former Parkesburg High School. He later continued education graduating from Lincoln University in 1966. He enlisted in the US Army and proudly served as a Chinese translator in Okinawa. He was employed most of his life as an administrator with the Bureau of Employment Security Office in Coatesville.

Richard attended the Worship Center in Leola, PA and he volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

He is survived by one niece Cynthia J. Chesnet and husband Dale of Ronks, PA and one nephew Tim Studd Newswanger of West Grove PA. He was preceded in death by one sister Harriet Cribbs.
