Richard "Dick" Ellingsworth 84, passed away peacefully, Wednesday August 22nd at Tel Hai Hospice. Born June 17, 1934 at Doe Run, PA, he was the son of the late Kenneth Ellingsworth and Mary (nee Lied) Ellingsworth.
Born and raised on Buck and Doe Run Valley Farms he was one of the King Ranch cowboys. After graduating from Unionville High School, he worked for Brandywine Polo Association where he trained ponies and played polo. He then served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge, he had worked for Capital Bakers, Unionville Saddle Shop, Watters Trucking and Krapfs Bus Company. Upon his retirement he worked part time for NAPA Auto Parts.
He was a life long member of Olivet United Methodist Church in Coatesville. He was an advid supporter of local High School Sports, coached Little League Babe Ruth, Legion fast pitch and slow pitch softball all for Watters Trucking. Dick's fall passion was fox hunting following the Cheshire hounds in Unionville.
Dick is survived by his wife of 63 years, Freida Hall Ellingsworth, daughter Gerri Jackwood (Rand) of Middle River, MD, son Samuel (Geralyn) of Downingtown and granddaughter Hannah of Downingtown, sister Delores Brown of Ercildoun, brother James (Ace) of Cochranville and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Kenneth of Atglen.
Family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, August 25, 2018, from the hours of 10:00 am to 11:30 am with a celebration of life immediately following at Olivet United Methodist Church, 310 E Chestnut Street, Coatesville, PA. Interment is private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Olivet United Methodist Church.
