Ralph Thomas Garris, Jr., 89, of Parkesburg, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Betty Jane Garris, who passed away just last month. Born in Parkesburg, he was the son of the late Ralph Thomas Garris, Sr. and Mildred Watkins Garris.
Ralph was an area resident all his life. He will be well remembered for being the owner and operator of Garris' Garage for over 60 years. He was also employed, for 30 years, by the Lukens Steel Company in Coatesville and he served as a Sadsbury Township Supervisor for 24 years.
Ralph was a member of the Parkesburg Presbyterian Church, lifetime member of the NRA, the AMA and the Coatesville Moose Lodge. He was also a member of the Brandywine Goddard Lodge # 383 of Coatesville, the Rajah Shrine of Reading, the Robert Montgomery VFW Post #4480 of Parkesburg, the Eastern Lancaster County Rod and Gun Club and the Lancaster, PA Hog Chapter #4380.
He was an avid hunter.
He is survived by three children; Mildred Jean Garris and partner Gary Dunmyre of Parkesburg, Ralph Thomas Garris III, and wife Kimberly Hammond, of Parkesburg and Lisa Jayne Myers, and husband H. Paul "Butch" Myers, of Parkesburg, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by one sister Thelma Jean Slaymaker.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery, 2237 Strasburg Rd, East Fallowfield, PA with Pastor Mark Beideman officiating.
