Ralph Evans Grier

Ralph Evans Grier, 76, of New Holland, formerly of Westwood, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012 under the care of the Garden Spot Village and the Hospice of Lancaster County.  He was the widower of the late Janet Hatfield Grier, who passed away in 2004 after they had shared 49 years of marriage together.



Born in Cochranville, Ralph was the son of the late William N. and Gladys (Evans) Grier.  An area resident his entire life, he was a 1954 graduate of the S. Horace Scott High School.


Ralph was a retired guard for Allegheny and Bethlehem Steel.


He attended the Highland Baptist Church and Garden Spot Chapel.


He was a member of the Lancaster Beagle Club.


He is survived by his four children: Susan Seace, wife of Keith, of Lancaster, Ralph E. "Bud" Grier Jr., husband of Carolyn, of Strasburg, Sandra Green, wife of Philip, of Washington Island, WI, and Esther Morad, wife of David, of Piedmont, MO; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and one brother William Grier of Glenmoore.


He was predeceased by his parents, wife, and sister, Alice Norton.


The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012 at 11 AM at the Garden Spot Chapel, 433 South Kinzer Ave., New Holland, Pa., followed by interment in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery of Steelville. The viewing will be held from 10 until 11 AM at the Chapel.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Garden Spot Benevolence Fund, 433 South Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557.
