Ralph D. Harrison

October 22, 1921 — December 6, 2014

Ralph D. Harrison 93, formerly of Parkesburg, passed away on Saturday December 6, 2014 at Pembrooke Care Facility in West Chester.  He was the husband of Betty Harrison of  Parkesburg with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Coatesville, Ralph was the son of Margaret (Townsley) and John F. Harrison. He graduated from Coatesville High in 1939.  He served in the Merchant Marines from 1942-1949.  He was involved in war zones in the Atlantic, Pacific and Mediterranean Middle East.  He worked at the former Lukens Steel Company for 33 years serving as a foreman in the salvage yard.
In his younger days Ralph was a avid bowler, swimmer, volleyball player and table tennis player. For many years he was an active member at the Coatesville YMCA.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his brother Jack.
Interment services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 10:30am at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA 17003. Memorial donations may be made in Ralph’s name to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
