Philip K. Johnston, 68, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Elizabeth L. Johnston (Woods) of Lancaster. Born in Syracuse, NY, to Philip G. and V. Dawn. (VanAntwerp) Johnston.
Philip was a graduate of Virginia Tech University and served 30 years as a civil engineer for the City of Syracuse Water Department.
His love of serving others and the Spanish language began with his work in Ecuador through the Peace Corp. He enjoyed volunteering in youth ministries at church including Awana and Young Life. Phil found great joy in sharing God's word on countless missions trips to El Salvador, Mexico, and most recently Honduras.
Phil was an avid adventurer and lover of the great outdoors. Often biking, hiking, or swimming as a way to feel closer to Christ and the people he shared the trails with.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Katie (Bryan) Segarra of Niagara Falls, NY, and Jack Johnston of Lancaster, and sisters, Carol (Boris Shmagin) Johnston of Minnesota and Linda McKeon of Syracuse.
A Celebration of Life memorial service is being planned in the spring, when details are completed the information will be posted here.
