Peter P. Duca, Sr.

December 5, 1927 — August 28, 2022

Peter P. Duca, Sr, born December 5th, 1927, in Coatesville, PA, to Nicola Duca and Maria Albert. Pete went to be with his maker on Sunday, August 28th. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gloria Manfredi, as well as his daughter, Doris; brother Samuel Duca, and his sister, Rose Stranieri and stepson Jon Keshuta. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Duca; sons, Peter Duca, Jr. (Mary Anne Pawlowski), Robert Duca (Kathleen Urban), grandchildren Peter Duca III, Courtney Duca-Murphy (Sean), Kelsey Duca-Harrison (Taylor), great-grandchildren Maci and Miles, stepchildren Shelley Keshuta (Marvin), Stacey Mitchell (Kevin), Justen Coleman (Melissa), grandson Colin Keshuta, cousins Paul Ciaccia and Joseph Albert, and niece Barbara Cialini, and many more cousins, family members, and friends. He is also survived by a previous wife Barbara Taylor Steidler and his stepdaughter Cheryl Taylor.

Peter lived in Coatesville when he was young and attended Coatesville schools. He was a self-made man, entrepreneur, inventor, and well-known musician. Pete owned and ran Pete Duca Associated Contractors, was owner of the former VIP Lounge in Thorndale, as well as many other businesses. He was a drummer with his own jazz group for his entire life – music was his life!

He was a property owner and developer in Caln Township for many years. His favorite business was selling Christmas trees at the Ponderosa. He was always chasing another venture, be it real estate, music, racehorses, or the next big opportunity. His last business was his famous “Wooden Roses” which he started and operated during the last seven years of his life. He was almost the last of his generation – assessing, making, and taking opportunities. He had a number of sayings, but his two favorites were “Tell ‘em you know Pete Duca” and if he was making dinner reservations, he would say “It’s for Doctor Duca.” He will be missed - his sense of humor, laughter, and the feeding of his horses! Heaven is getting one of the best dealmakers ever! But most of all, Pete was a loving husband, father, friend, and human being.
