Norman I. Diem

February 4, 1940 — March 18, 2022

Norman I. Diem, 82, of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022, in West Chester.  He was the husband of Gale Woods Diem for over 54 years.  Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late, Charles N. and Doris F. Moore Diem.

Norman was an area resident most his life.  He was a graduate of the Coatesville Area School District and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era, serving as Crew Chief. He worked in County Government serving as Deputy Sheriff for four years and as Administrator and Founder of the Chester County Bail Agency for the Courts for twenty six years.

He was a member of the Unionville Presbyterian Church, and was the president and records keeper for the Unionville Cemetery for fifteen years.  He belonged to the National and State Bail Association and a Republican Committee Man for East Marlborough Township.

He enjoyed boating, deep sea fishing and clamming.  During retirement, he and his wife owned and operated a sawmill and Cedarhollow Wholesale Wooden Toy business.  He cherished and enjoyed all of his friends and animals, especially dogs (poodles) and cats.  His favorite saying was "I believe I love Animals more than people".

He is survived by his wife, Gale Woods Diem and his eight year old Standard Poodle, Winston.  Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Unionville Presbyterian Church, 815 Wollaston Rd., Kennett Square, PA, 19348, or to the Unionville Cemetery, P.O. Box 394, Unionville, PA, 19375.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from Unionville Cemetery, Unionville Rd, Kennett Square, PA 19348.
