Michel Gochtovtt, 88, né "de Gochtoft" to Kazimieras Gostautas and Elisabeth Verevkine in Sarlat, France, passed away surrounded by his family on July 21, 2012, at home in Exton, Pennsylvania, joining his beloved wife of 42 years, Chriss in the eternal presence of the Lord.
During World War II, Mr. Gochtovtt joined the Forces françaises de l' intérieur (FFI), part of the French “Armée Secrète” (French Resistance) and took part in the encirclement of the Poche de Royan.
After the war, Mr. Gochtovtt started his career at Renault while pursuing his Master’s in engineering sciences at the Cours du Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in Paris, France. He was a key player in the construction of the Citroën factory in Rennes, which went on to design the popular, technologically advanced, and innovative “2CV”. Mr. Gochtovtt later became Executive Director at Wofac-France before founding his own international management consulting firm, MGA Consulting.
In 1966, Michel married the love of his life, Christiane Argeliès (1940-2008), in Nice, France, and they later emigrated to the United States with their four children. Mr. Gochtovtt resided in New Jersey, Florida and Indiana before finally settling in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Gochtovtt is survived by his children: Alexandre Gochtovtt of Downingtown, PA; Gregory Gochtovtt of Exton, PA; Annabel Gochtovtt of Exton, PA, and Tessa Gochtovtt-Stine of Fort Wayne, Indiana, seven grandchildren, Sachi, Anna, Sophie, Isabelle, Fiona, Luc and Cyd, and two brothers: Pierre Gochtovtt of Anglet, France, and Jean Gochtovtt of Sarlat, France.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 27th at 9:30 AM at the Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church, 100 Fellowship Road, Chester Springs, PA 19425. The viewing will be held at the Church from 8:30 to 9:15 AM. Interment will take place in Cimetière de l'Orme au Berger, Magny-les-Hameaux, France.
