Michael H. Dean,74, of Coatesville, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, at Lankenau Medical Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Cecilia Dean, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage. Born in Elkton, Maryland, he was the son of the late John H. Dean, Sr. and Bettie Anna (McWilliams) Dean.
Michael graduated from Coatesville High School in 1969. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army and served in the Army from 1969-72. Michael owned and operated Dean's Hardwood Flooring for 25 years. Michael was a truly extraordinary man - devoted husband, father, and cherished pop-pop - whose warmth, strength, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mike received a second chance at life when he received a donor lung and transplant. We are forever grateful for the organ donor, the staff at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, who took part in Mike's surgery and recovery, and Gift of Life Howie's House who served as a "home away from home" for Mike's wife, Cecilia, providing affordable lodging, meals, supportive services and transportation to and from the hospital while Mike was recuperating from surgery.
Mike was a life member of the Wagontown Volunteer Fire Company and life member of the former Brandywine Fire Company in Coatesville. He was an avid photographer and thoroughly enjoyed photographing nature, birds and barrel races and their riders.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two daughters, Michele Little of Pittsburgh and Erica Eastep of Coatesville, two granddaughters, Olivia Little and Penelope Eastep, a brother Jeffrey (Deborah) Dean and a sister Carole (Lewis) Ammon.
ln addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother, John Dean, Jr; sister, Patricia Florian and sister, Nancy Dean.
As a proud veteran, he will be laid to rest with military honors in a private ceremony attended by immediate family, commemorating his life and service. ln lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in memory of Michael Dean, to the Gift of Life Howie's House in Philadelphia.
