Meriam Criswell Mccord

Meriam E. Criswell McCord, 85, of Newark DE, formerly of Oxford, PA passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the University Community Hospital in Tampa, FL. She was the widow of the late John McCord, who passed away in 1998 after they had shared 54 years of marriage together.

Born in Parkesburg, Meriam was the daughter of the late Charles Lloyd Criswell and Lillian Elizabeth (McMinn) Criswell. Meriam was a 1943 graduate of the Coatesville High School. She was employed at the Jennersville Community Hospital of West Grove for 14 years, retiring over 34 years ago. Meriam was a member of the Manor Presbyterian Church of Cochranville, where she was apart of the Ladies Church Group and the Bible Study. She was also a member of the Roses in Winter.

She was a resident of Oxford for 57 years and had only resided in Newark for the past five months.

She is survived by six children: Shirley Parsons, wife of Mark, of Tampa, FL, Joyce Miller of Nottingham, PA, Linda Uniatowski, wife of Jim, of Elkton, MD, Carol Hougnon, wife of Daryl, Sandy, UT, Meriam Krout, wife of Ray, of Newark, DE, and John McCord, husband of Helen, of London, UK; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and, siblings, Robert Criswell of New Holland, Martha Shank of Parkesburg, and Chester Criswell of Nottingham, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 11:00 am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA followed by interment at Georgetown Cemetery. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing at the funeral home from 10 to 11:00 am.
