Mary Lou McLean, 87, of Highland Township, Chester County, passed away on Saturday April 27, 2019 at her home. She was the widow of the late Robert H. McLean who died in 1997. They shared 44 years of marriage together. Born in Peckville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ivor Thomas Stafford and Ethel Roberts Stafford.
She is survived by four children; Ellen McLean of Greensboro, NC, Scott McLean of Wilmington, DE, Laura Craig of Greensboro, NC and Craig McLean and wife Vickie of Griswold, CT, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two siblings; Thomas Stafford and wife Annette and Jane Dann and husband Ben and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou was a devoted grandmother to Stacey, Katie, Thomas, Lizzie, Winston, Bryce, Matthew and Robert. Mom Mom Blue, as she was called, was adored by her grand and great grandchildren. She followed all of their activities religiously which included keeping up with them and sharing their accomplishments on Facebook. She was so proud of them.
Mary Lou was an area resident for the past 29 years. She previously lived in Claymont, Delaware for 30 years. She was a faithful member of the Friendship United Methodist Church, with previous active membership at Atonement United Methodist Church in Claymont, DE.
Mary Lou was a graduate of the Katharine Gibbs School in New York City. She was blessed and proud to stay home and raise her four children. She was an active supporter of all of her children's activities and sports. She enjoyed partaking in many hobbies and social activities over the years including stained glass classes, playing bridge, attending the theatre and having a dinner club with her cherished friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Friendship United Methodist Church, 123 East Friendship Church Rd., Coatesville, PA 19320. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Friends and family will gather for a luncheon in Mary Lou's honor after the service. Interment will follow the next day at Valley View Cemetery, Montdale, PA at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mary Lou's memory to the Friendship United Methodist Church "Steeple Fund" at the above address.
