Marvin O. Walton, aka "Starvin' Marvin", 86, of Parkesburg, died on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Coatesville VAMC. He was the widower of the late Florence J. Walton. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Albert and Sadie Brown Walton.
Marvin served with the US Army during WWII in the Pacific. He will be fondly remembered as the operator of Starvin' Marvin's Produce Stand. He was a member of the Downingtown, Coatesville and Parkesburg VFW Posts, the American Legions of Coatesville and Christiana, the Polish American Club, Downingtown Moose and the Thorndale Fire Co.
He is survived by eight children; Mary, wife of Michael Procyson of Florida, Darlene Kuhn of Parkesburg, JoAnn, wife of Paul Mendenhall of Sadsburyville, Patricia Walton of Philadelphia, Marvin Walton of Cochranville, Charlotte, wife of Joseph Bernard of Honey Brook, Laura Young of Parkesburg and Celia, wife of Joseph McBride of Parkesburg, 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and five siblings; Alfred "Sonny" Walton of Coatesville, Carroll Dyer of Delaware, Gladys Dyer of West Chester, Shirley Walton of Narvon and Betty Lou Stirling of Parkesburg. He was preceded in death by a daughter Margaret Walton, two brothers Albert Walton and Carl Webster and grandchild Leigh Mendenhall.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday evening, April 10, 2012 at 8:00 pm from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg with a viewing from 6 to 8:00 pm. Interment will be held on April 11 at 11:30am at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
