Marjorie T. Whiteford

Marjorie T. Whiteford, 78, of Atglen, formerly of West Chester, Yardley, Ridley Park and Norwood, passed away at her home, on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, surrounded by her family on the 54th anniversary of her marriage to Basil James Whiteford.



Born in Wilmington, DE., she was the daughter of the late George S. Thompson and Esther Vining Thompson.  She was a graduate of Glen-Nor High School, of Glenolden, PA.  She was retired from Cigna, where she worked as Executive Secretary for 19 years.



Marjorie was a member of the DCC Club, where she was the first woman to join the club and become President of the club. She also served as club Secretary  for 42 years.



She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church.



Marjorie is survived, in addition to her husband, by her son, Douglas J. Whiteford, husband of Debbie, of West Chester; five grandchildren, one great granddaughter and her sister, Frances Cheeseman of Birdsboro, PA.  She was predeceased by her son Warren J. Whiteford and sister Phyllis Scaffer.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 3, 2011  at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 W. Second Ave. Parkesburg, Pa. 19365. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing on Sunday evening, January 2, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA 19365.



In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 101 East Market Street, West Chester, PA 19382-3152.
