Madelyn Eva Lohr

January 8, 1998 — September 22, 2019

Madelyn Eva Lohr, 21, of Coatesville, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019.

Born in Bryn Mawr, Madelyn was the beloved daughter of Laura L. (Lyon) and Kurtis B. Lohr.

Maddie was hoping to put her artistic talent to use in a career someday soon, but wasn’t sure which medium she would pursue to express herself. Madelyn had suffered with anxiety and depression since childhood, and sadly turned to drugs to try and soothe her pain. Addiction does not care who you are, what you are, what you do, or who loves you. Addiction gets people who hurt and people who don’t hurt, only adding pain and misery.

Madelyn had been in recovery since February 2019, working on getting herself back. She was feeling very hopeful and had a renewed sense of self-love and appreciation looking forward to taking art classes to revive her love of creating beauty, something that her addiction had stolen from her.

But something gave her a moment of doubt that Saturday and she found the opportunity to use heroin one more time. It was her last and her last moment of doubt.

Madelyn wished that addiction, in all its forms, would be conquered by all she met who were suffering and struggling like her. She was a Ray of light in this ugly world.

Madelyn was affectionately called "Maddie Rabbit" and "Madger Badger" by her family.

From a young age, Madelyn was fascinated with nature.  She was an artist at heart who excelled in photography, drawing, sculpture, and was a phenomenal smoothie maker.  Madelyn wanted to put her artistic talent to work as a pastry chef.  Madelyn had a goofy sense of humor and enjoyed the comedy duo, Tim and Eric.  She loved cats and enjoyed eating sushi.

She is survived, in addition to her parents, by her sister, Hana Lohr; her paternal grandparents, Jim and Helen Lohr, and maternal grandparents, Gerry and Bobbie Hertel; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.  She will be missed dearly by her five beloved cats and two dogs.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday October 5, 2019 at 1PM at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, Pa. with a visitation from 11 AM until the time of the service.
