Lucy E. Stewart

Lucy E. Stewart, 92, of Lancaster, formerly of Zion Hill, Atglen, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2009 at her home. She was the widow of the late Raymond E. Stewart, who passed away in 1990.

Born in Sadsbury Township, she was the daughter of the late Elnora Watts Johnson and Henry Johnson. A resident of Zion Hill for 48 years, Lucy was an dedicated housewife and foster mother. She was employed by the Octorara School District, working in the Cafeteria. She was a member of the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, where she served as Stewart, Trustee, Church Clerk and was a member of the First Choir for Rev. Lindsey.

To carry on her legacy, Lucy leaves behind her children: Dennis Stewart of Lancaster, Raymond Stewart Jr., husband of Shawn, of Lancaster, Blanche Brown of Atglen and Phyllis Miller, wife of Roger, of Parkesburg; and her sister, Gladys Flamer of Coatesville; 21 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. She was predeceased by her son, Blaine Brown and daughter, Ruth Ann Stewart-Allen, and five sisters and four brothers.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, 404 Zion Hill Rd., Atglen, PA 19310, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing at the Church from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church Missionary Society at the above address.
