Louis M Marchegiano

Louis, a long-time resident of Cochranville, was born in Phoenixville to Margaret (Petrillo) and Louis Marchegiano Sr. and had three brothers, Joseph (Gaggy), Thomas, and Edward whom he has now joined in heaven. Lou attended St Mary's Grade School, as well as Phoenixville High School. He left school to work in a cookie factory for $2.50 an hour, then worked at Phoenix Steel. He later began a 35 year career as a Wonder Bread Delivery driver covering South Philly and then Chester County until age 65. After retiring from Wonder Bread, he went to work for Giunta's Grocery store in Exton for several years until they closed, and then Giant Supermarket in Jennersville until last year when he finally retired at 83 years old!

Lou had 3 children from his first marriage: Kathy (Rick) Opperman, Linda (Stephen) Nogar, and Louie (Rosalyn) Marchegiano. Upon marrying his current wife, Gabriele, in 1974, Lou added Gabriele's young children, Patricia (Orsi) and David Stann to his family, which eventually grew to 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren with the youngest being born in August. Lou was a wonderful father figure to granddaughter, Jessica Stann and her two children.

Lou liked Frank Sinatra music and enjoyed dancing, softball and bowling in his younger years. He loved playing and watching golf and horse racing and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles & Phillies fan. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and watching western movies, Gunsmoke and General Hospital. Lou would often be found at Delaware Park where he could teach you all about the horses, trainers and jockeys.

Lou was a courageous man of deep faith who battled through multiple surgeries in the spring of this year. He was recovering under his wife’s wonderful care, when he found out that colon cancer had spread in August. Lou passed peacefully in his sleep early Sunday morning, September 29 ^th . He will be remembered as a kind, caring and gentle man with a big heart who was loved by many.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 3 ^rd at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St, Parkesburg from 10:30am to 11:45am with a memorial service at noon. Burial will be private at St Patrick’s Cemetery in Norristown at a later date.
